What a heat pump service covers

Cleaning or checking filters and coils, testing defrost operation, checking refrigerant pressures and electrical connections, clearing the condensate drain and making sure the outdoor unit is level and clear.

Furnace and boiler service

Inspecting burners and heat exchangers, testing safety controls, checking venting and, for gas appliances, carbon monoxide levels. Gas appliances must be serviced by a certified gasfitter.

Filters: your job

Check furnace and ducted heat pump filters every month or two and replace them when they're dirty. Wash the filters in ductless heads on the same schedule.
